About this event
The title of the presentation is: "The Lees Ferry Trout Fishery: Past, Present, and Future"
Speaker - Dale Fonken - AZGFD
"Dale Fonken is a fish biologist with the Arizona Game and Fish Department (AZGFD) Flagstaff aquatic research office. He primarily studies abundance and distribution of native and nonnative fishes between Glen Canyon Dam and Lake Mead, with a particular emphasis on the Rainbow Trout fishery at Lees Ferry and native fishes in Grand Canyon. Dale, along with other AZGFD researchers, have been tracking long-term trends in relative abundance, growth, and reproduction of Rainbow Trout in Lees Ferry to assess whether management goals for the fishery are being met. This vital research gives managers the information they need to conserve and protect the Lees Ferry Trout fishery. In his free time, Dale enjoys whitewater rafting, fishing, and hiking in the Grand Canyon."
